Scott, the top pitching prospect in the Mets organization, made five starts for the big league club earlier this season. In 27 and 2/3 innings, he recorded a 3.90 ERA and 1.084 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and six walks. He was sent down to Triple-A on May 31, largely due to the Mets not needing a six-man rotation. Thanks to the London trip and the Subway Series, the Mets had six off days in June and just one stretch where they played more than five games in a row in the entire month.

Back in Triple-A, Scott made four starts while having his innings managed. He never threw more than five inningsand only hit that total oncewhile also keeping his pitch count to 59, 60, 71 and 81 in the four games. He also dominated those four outings, giving up just four earned runs in 17 innings.

Scott will re-join the big league rotation, with the Mets having 17 games in a row from the end of June to the All-Star break. He is scheduled to start on Wednesday in Washington.

Also, on Wednesday, Kodai Senga will join the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones to begin a rehab assignment.Mendoza said Senga will throw around 40 pitches.

Senga was initially shut down during spring with a right posterior capsule strain in his shoulder and suffered numerous setbacks in the following months. Most notable of the setbacks was tricep inflammation in late May, which shut him down for almost a month before returning to throwing live bullpens.

Wednesday’s rehab assignment will be the first live, in-game action for Senga since September 27, 2023.

Other injury news: Brandon Nimmo slipped and fell in his hotel room last night and has a cut on his forehead, Anthony DiComo of MLB said. Otherwise, Nimmo is fine, but he is out of Monday’s lineup.
