The Clippers outhit their opponent 7-5, but couldn’t do any damage when it counted, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and failing to get any extra-base hits.

Esteban Florial had himself a game, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases. Raynel Delgado went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base and Jhonkensy Noel went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Starting pitcher Joey Cantillo continues to work his way back from injury. He allowed one run on two hist in 3 13 innings while walking four and striking out five.

The bullpen was rock solid, with Adam Oller tossing 1 23 scoreless frames, a rehabbing Eli Morgan adding a scoreless inning and Andrew Walters dancing around two walks and a single to pitch a scoreless inning. Peter Strzelecki gave up a solo shot in his inning of work.

A rare bullpen blowup cost Akron a victory on Saturday. Tommy Mace gave the RubberDucks a chance to win, allowing two runs on six hits in 5 23 innings while striking out seven and walking two.

Bradley Hanner got out of the sixth inning by stranding two inherited runners, but then got blown up in the seventh, allowing four runs of his own on three hits and a walk.

Offensively, Dayan Frias went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run.

Milan Tolentino went 2-for-4 with a double. Kahlil Watson went 1-for-4 with a walk, Yordys Valdes went 1-for-3 with a walk and Petey Halpin blasted a solo home run.

Lake County Captains 5, South Bend Cubs 2

Lake County's offense was well-rounded Saturday as eight players spread around nine hits.

Alex Mooney had the lone multi-hit effort, going 2-for-4 with a hit by pitch and three stolen bases. Isaiah Greene went 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run. Jorge Burgos also homered.

Angel Genao and Cooper Ingle both doubled and walked while Jake Fox and Maick Collado both singled and walked.

The big story for the Captains was the tremendous pitching performance by Austin Peterson. Peterson was one out away from a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits in 8 23 innings in just 94 pitches. He struck out five and walked none. With his teammate Parker Messick having recently been promoted to Akron, it’s high time Peterson joins him.

Lynchburg Hillcats 9, Charleston RiverDogs 6

Several members of the Hillcats had standout performances on Saturday. Tommy Hawke led the way by going 3-for-4 with a triple and a walk.

Ralphy Velazquez showcased his power, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks.

Jaison Chourio went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base while Robert Lopez went 2-for-4 with a double and Lexer Saduy went 2-for-4.

Starting pitcher Alonzo Richardson allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits in 4 23 innings while striking out six and walking two. Deretd Parra earned the win in long relief, allowing one run in 3 13 innings.

DSL CLE Goryl 9, DSL CLE Mendoza 2

It was some Cleveland on Cleveland crime Saturday in the Dominican League. The DSL Goryl squad scored nine runs on just six hits thanks to eight walks, two hit by pitches and five errors from the DSL Mendoza squad.

Estivel Morilla walked a whopping four times himself. Brayan Guedes went 2-for-4 while Yeiferth Castillo went 1-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch.

On the Mendoza side, Randy Martinez had the lone multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a double.
