Angels keep falling down, injury updates abound, and umpires have bad days sometimes, a breakdown.

It’s a great Tuesday for the Mariners to have a commanding lead in the American League West. Who am I kidding, every day is a great day for that!

In Mariners news...

  • In a bid to get Seattle Mariners players into the All Star Game, the team has enlisted the help of Jay from ENHYPEN to rally some votes. A smart move, as personally I would not bet against the power of a motivated k-pop army.

  • We all remember how Scott Servais got tossed to save Cal from getting ejected, keeping him in the game for the epic walk-off grand slam to overcome the White Sox in T-Mobile Park. Now, Jomboy Media has given us a breakdown of what was said, and quite frankly, you won’t want to miss this one.

Around the league...

  • A former Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, and a former bat boy for the Birmingham Black Barons, Richard Arrington Jr. remembers what it was like to get a chance to watch some of the greats of not only the Negro Leagues, but some of the best to ever play the game in any league, including the legendary Willie Mays.
  • Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, not only made the case for the legitimacy of the integration of the Negro Leagues statistics into MLB’s historical stats, but also reminds us of the what and the why for those leagues existing, and the importance of the stories behind the numbers.
  • An update on the injury status of Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who has been diagnosed with a fractured radial neck in his right arm, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. ($)
  • The Rays have had a less than stellar season so far, and recent reporting has clarified the length of the terms of Kevin Cash’s recent contract extension, giving light to just how hot his seat as the manager for the team is or isn’t.
  • Yimi García, Blue Jays reliever, has been placed on the 15-day IL with right elbow ulnar neuritis.
  • In an update from Dave Roberts, a rough timetable was given for how long the Dodgers expect Mookie Betts to miss playing time while he recovers from a hand fracture.

  • Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is scheduled to make his return to the rotation on Wednesday.

  • Every time a bell rings, an Angel gets DFA’d.

  • The Oakland Athletics have reportedly DFA’d J.D. Davis.

  • Nothing I could tell you would probably prepare you for this, but luckily it speaks for itself.

Bee’s pick...

  • Over the last several years Adobe has made several questionable, and some actively harmful, decisions about how they operate their suite of products, in particular making several changes that hinder or harm the artist community whether individual creators or large entities. Now, they face legal action from the Department of Justice for just some of these practices.
