Chihuahua and Sinaloa claim Mexican Baseball5 National Championship honours

<p>Chihuahua won the Mexican Baseball5 National Championship, played at the Merle Oberon Park in Acapulco, Guerrero. Sinaloa, Sinaloa Villa Verde, Sinaloa Experience and Juventud, Guerrero and Colima also participated. Erick Balandran (Chihuahua) earned MVP honours.</p>

<p>The Mexican Softball Federation (FMS) organized the event from 9 to 11 May to honour <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/news/baseball-softball-community-celebrates-wbsc-10th-anniversary-world-baseball-softball-day" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="World Baseball Softball Day (opens in a new tab)">World Baseball Softball Day</a>. It included two youth championships.</p>

<p>Eight teams participated in the senior age bracket. Sinaloa beat Chihuahua to earn the title. Coahuila finished third ahead of Colima, Sinaloa Villa Verde, Guerrero and Sinaloa Experiencia y Juventus.</p>

<p>In the junior age bracket, Chihuahua beat Sinaloa to earn the pennant. Coahuila finished third ahead of Guerrero, Sinaloa Snte 53 and Colima.</p>

<p>The event involved a total of 20 teams and 200 athletes representing six Mexican States.</p>

<p>During the awarding ceremony the FMS President rolando Guerrero Castilla honoured the late Alejandro Casas Acosta for his contribution to Baseball5 development in Mexico.</p>
