[Women's Outdoor Track & Field] Ramirez earns first career KCAC Field Athlete of the Week nod
WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University freshman Aaliyah Ramirez has been named the KCAC Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced today (Apr. 3). The KCAC Athlete of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Ramirez continues to make strides in her first season on campus, with her performance this past weekend at the home Friends Spring Open her best yet.
The Rockwall, Texas native posted a top-five finish in the Women's Pole Vault, with her mark of 3.13m representing a personal best and landing her in the top spot this season in the KCAC.
"As a freshman, Aaliyah has improved so much over this first year," said Friends track & field head coach Henry Brun. "She is a dedicated vaulter and shows up to every practice with the mindset of wanting to get better. Her confidence continues to build and I believe she will clear higher bars and be a contender for the KCAC title by the end of this outdoor season. I am proud of what she has accomplished so far."
Ramirez and the Falcons are next scheduled to compete at the KT Woodman Classic this weekend (Apr. 6-8) on the campus of Wichita State University.
