[Men's Soccer] Five Williamson Soccer Players Named to 2022 USCAA National All -Academic Team

While injuries might have derailed what looked to be a very promising 2022 soccer campaign for the Williamson soccer team, what wasn't derailed was the outstanding work by five Williamson players, both on the field and in the classroom, as seniors Luke Dutton (SR/Wilmington, DE), Steven East (SR/Springfield, PA) and Scott Wiltshire, along with juniors Zachary Bosak (JR/Glenolden, PA) and Michael Hegarty (JR/West Chester, PA) were named to the 2022 United States Collegiate Athletic Association's Soccer National All-Academic team.

To be recognized for the award, student-athletes must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.50 or higher and must either be a starter or a major contributor to the team's success.  According to head coach Peter Glowa, all five fit that bill-and then some.

"I'm extremely proud of each of the five earning this significant honor.  Each of them gave it a great effort day in and day out on the field, while also leading the way in the classroom.  They are great representatives of not only Williamson's soccer program, but also of what being a Williamson man is all about."

As the team captain, East set the tone for the defense.  A two-year starter on the backline, he was a major factor in the team's success on defense.

Dutton was an interesting story for the team.  An outstanding player in the field, he moved into the team's starting goalie role three games into the season, where his play was nothing short of spectacular.  His play was the difference maker in several of Williamson's wins.

A sparkplug on offense, Wiltshire's quickness was a difference maker for the team on the frontline.  He was fourth on the team in scoring with three goals, one of which was a game winner.

Bosak, who missed almost all of the 2021 season due to an injury, came back with a vengeance this year.  His non-stop energy led to him to being second on the team in scoring, trailing only USCAA All-American Brandon Cairy (JR/Media, PA), with 9 points.

Hegarty was not a starter at the beginning of the year but fought his way into the starting line-up halfway through the season and his instrumental play on defense helped Williamson down the stretch.

The five soccer players named to the 2022 National All-Academic team matches the most for one team in school history.  The Mechanics finished the season 3-6-2.
