[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Falcons place five on CSC Academic All-District list

WICHITA, Kan. – Five Friends University Women's Soccer student-athletes have earned the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic-All District award, the organization has announced.

Academic All-District winners now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second-, and third-team honorees set to be announced in early December.

The Women's Soccer Falcons CSC Academic All-District selections are listed below:

Kinley Coward (SR/Aubrey, Texas)

A standout defender, Coward fueled the Falcon defensive unit all season. The Aubrey, Texas native earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after holding Texas Wesleyan's Tameir Grosvenor scoreless after Grosvenor had recorded a hat trick in her two previous games. Coward also played a huge part in a Falcons' back line that allowed just one goal over a 663-minute stretch earlier this season. A solid student-athlete, Coward has received the NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete awards twice in her career.

Lauryn Erickson (SO/Broken Arrow, Okla.)

Erickson appeared in 10 matches this season before her season was cut short due to injury. In the 10 matches Erickson appeared in, the Falcons posted a 7-2-1 record.  A native of Broken Arrow, Okla., Erickson also dished out one assist on the season and recently received KCAC Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Mackenzie Greer (SR/Wichita, Kan.)

Greer was a part of a stout Falcon defensive attack this season, serving as a key cog in a defensive unit that allowed just one goal over a 663 minute stretch this year. The local Wichita native earned All-KCAC second-team honors in the 2020 season after contributing to five shutouts for the Falcons. Greer is also a two-time recipient of both the NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete awards.

Kylie Lewis (SO/McKinney, Texas)

Lewis has made a major impact as a defender for the Falcons since arriving on campus last season. She received KCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors back on Oct. 3 and along with Coward and Greer, ignited the Falcon defense all season. Last year, Lewis earned All-KCAC second-team recognition as a freshman along with a KCAC Scholar-Athlete nod earlier this month.

Elyssa Salazar (SR/Garden City, Kan.)

Another key defender for the Falcons, Salazar helped the Falcons record double-digit wins for the fourth time in the last five seasons. In addition to her defensive prowess, the Garden City, Kan. native scored two goals and recorded one assist this year for Friends. Salazar also earned KCAC Scholar-Athlete earlier this month.
