[Men's Tennis] SDCC Cruises to GSAC First Round Win over WJU

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Only needing to take two points from William Jessup due to Warriors forfeits, the #1 seeded San Diego Christian College Hawks cruised to a quick 4-0 victory in round one of the GSAC Men's Tennis Championship.

With a forfeit in hand, the race was on between the SDCC double's teams of Chris Papa/Nick Nienhaus and Robin Van den Hoek/Laurenz Grabia to claim the opening team point. A quick 6-1 smashing by Van den Hoek and Grabia beat Papa and Neinhaus (who were at 5-2) to the punch.

Two more forfeited points would be spotted to San Diego Christian leaving only one match to be won of the four remaining. Once again, the race was on.

With all four singles matches being dominated by the Hawks, Robin Van den Hoek would be the one to finish off his Warrior counterpart first.

His 6-1, 6-0 drubbing propelled the Hawks into the next round where they will take on the Westcliff University Warriors. The doubles competition begins at 12:30 pm. Live scoring will be available at sdcchawks.com.
