[Baseball] Smyth & Doran Lead SXU Past Missouri Baptist, 9-5

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Senior infielder Jimmy Smyth (Evergreen Park, Ill./Tennessee Wesleyan/South Suburban/Robert Morris/Oak Forest) drove in four runs and junior infielder Patrick Doran (Evergreen Park, Ill./NC Central/South Suburban/Evergreen Park) doubled twice and had two RBI's to lead the Saint Xavier University baseball team (15-2, 0-0 CCAC) to a 9-5 victory over Missouri Baptist University Friday afternoon at the Spartan Baseball Field in St. Louis, Mo. SXU was scheduled to play No. 2 Central Methodist University (Mo.) later in the day, but the game was cancelled due to darkness. Sophomore pitcher Ryan Martin (Whitestone, N.Y./Iona/St. Francis Prep) picked up the win in relief (2-0), allowing two hits, one run (unearned, two walks and two strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
