[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Drops First Game in Hawaii

Doane Women's Basketball opened the Hoop 'n Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Friday morning against the Siena Heights (Mich.) Saints at Hawaii Pacific University. After a close first half of play, the Saints were able to use a hot second half to pull away for an 81-56 win over the Tigers. Siena Heights improved to 11-2 while Doane dropped to 7-6.

The Tigers were led in scoring by Mak Hatcliff (FR/Beatrice, Neb.) and Boston Boucher (FR/Wood River, Neb.) as they scored 10 points apiece. Doane received seven points apiece from Kali Staples (FR/Broken Bow, Neb.), Ashley Teten (JR/Auburn, Neb.), and Olivia Nall (SO/Tilden, Neb.). Hatcliff pulled in a team-high seven rebounds while Maddie Davis (JR/Yutan, Neb.) finished with six. Sydney Roth (JR/Deshler, Neb.) led Doane with three assists while Hatcliff had three steals.

Sha'Kyia Parker led the Saints with 23 points while E'Anna Won led the team with 11 rebounds. Siena Heights shot 46-percent from the floor for the game, hitting 11 3-point baskets. The Saints held Doane to 30-percent shooting from the floor, including 3-of-29 (10-percent) from behind the 3-point arc.

Next up for the Tigers will be a meeting with No. 3 Thomas More University (Ky.) on Saturday, December 18,  at 10 AM in Honolulu (2 PM CST). Thomas More was the NAIA National Runner-up last season and the game will be the first between the two programs.
