[Women's Basketball] Hawks Move to 1-1 in GSAC after loss to ACU
EL CAJON, Calif. – The SDCC women's basketball team fell to the visiting Arizona Christian Firestorm on Saturday by a score of 46-75. The loss moves the Hawks to 3-4 overall and evens their GSAC record at 1-1.
San Diego Christian took an early lead off a Cynnadie Whatley bucket, two baskets by Maddison Zugna, and a Carly Wheeler jumper. SDCC and ACU would exchange the lead several times, but the Hawks would lead by one after the first quarter.
The Hawks would lose their momentum in the second quarter and would not be able to gain it back. SDCC would not be able to match the Firestorm's 39.7 field goal percentage and would slowly give away increasingly more ground to ACU.
Zugna led San Diego Christian with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Whatley pulled in 8 rebounds and had 5 assists.
