[Men's Soccer] Soccer Team Sends Seniors Out with a Win
On a day when Williamson honored its six senior soccer players prior to their final game, the rest of the team took it upon themselves to make sure the seniors went out on a winning note, as they dominated play from start to finish in a 6-0 season ending win over Patrick Henry College.
The two teams met earlier in October in Virginia, with Williamson escaping with a 5-3 victory over the Sentinels. This time around it was all Williamson as they dominated time of possession right from the start.
After several chances, Williamson finally got on the board first at the 34:04 mark on a goal from Brandon Cairy (FR/Media, PA) off a feed from Scott Wilshire (JR/Cape May, NJ). They scored again at the 20:28 mark when Willy Tilley converted a penalty kick after being tripped up in the box. Wilshire and Carey traded places at the 18:03 mark, with Wilshire netting the goal and Cairy getting the assist to make it 3-0. Dennis McElhone (SR/Upper Darby) then added the first goal of his career on a penalty kick at the 8:27 make to make it 4-0 at half.
Brandon Cairy then added two unassisted second half goals early on to put the game out of reach, while Nathan Myers notched his first career shutout for the Mechanics.
Williamson seniors Jimmy McChesney, Andrew Peticca (SR/Upland, PA), Rich Torelli (SR/Philadelphia, PA), Tom O'Neil (SR/Secane, PA), Dennis McElhone and Willy Tilley were honored for their years of service to the Williamson soccer team. They will be presented their Williamson 3-Year Varsity Letterman jackets at s epical ceremony later in the first semester.
With the win, Williamson closed out their 2021 season at 3-5-1.
