Tyrod Taylor Signs with Texans
Former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Taylor’s incentive-based contract can be worth up to $12.5 million.
The 10-year veteran quarterback spent two seasons with the Chargers, primarily in a backup role. He was named the starter for the 2020 seasons but suffered a rib injury after a Week 1 16-13 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Rookie Justin Herbert took over starting quarterback duties for the team, posting a 6-9 record, throwing 396 passes for 4,336 yards and 31 touchdowns. He ranked sixth among all starting quarterbacks last season in passing yards.
Taylor also spent time as a member of the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.
Taylor is expected to back up Deshaun Watson in Houston. Watson led the league in passing yards last season, throwing for 4,823 yards.
The Texans are +10000 to win Super Bowl LVI on FanDuel Sportsbook. With a 4-12 record, they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
