Mets Among List of Five Teams Interested in Yadier Molina

0 6

Yadier Molina made his MLB debut with the Cardinals back 2004, when he was just 21 years old. He has since spent the last 17 seasons in St. Louis, winning two World Series and nine Gold Gloves.

Now Molina has become a free agent and despite being 38 years old, it seems like the future Hall of Famer has a healthy market for his services.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Molina has received interest from five teams including both from New York. The Mets, Yankees, Padres and Angels have all shown interest in Molina, while the Cardinals have also been trying to keep him in St. Louis.

Molina has always stated his intentions to spend his entire career with the Cardinals, making them the most likely landing spot for the nine-time All-Star. Still, there is a chance that Molina decides to take on a new challenge as he closes in on the final stages of his career.

This year, Molina hit .262/.303/.359, with a .662 OPS and a 82 wRC+. Those numbers are basically on line with what he produced across 113 games played in 2019.

While he is not the top catcher on the market, Molina is still one of the best receivers in the game due to his elite pitch framing and strong leadership when it comes to managing a pitching staff.
