[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer hands Milligan first loss of the season in 4-1 win

LAURINBURG, N.C. - The St. Andrews Men's Soccer team topped Milligan University with a score of 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Milligan University was undefeated coming into the game and tied for 1st in the AAC standings. After the St. Andrews win, the Knights are now tied for 2nd place with Milligan, while Tennessee Wesleyan holds the 1st spot.

1st Half:  Milligan University started the game pressuring the Knights, scoring a goal in the 5th minute.

Following the Buffaloes' goal, Alessandro Benedetti secured a save for St. Andrews in the 8th minute. St. Andrews had several shots on goal in the early minutes before Jacob Hancock's free kick resulted in a goal for St. Andrews, tying the game 1-1 in the 24th minute.

Alessandro Benedetti had two additional saves before the end of the half, leaving the score 1-1. Milligan finished the first half leading in shots with 10, compared to SAU's 7.

2nd Half:  The Buffaloes pressed early in the second half, shooting three shots before the Knights got a shot off at MU's goalie. The Knights got in their rhythm after Jack Jarvis pocketed the go-ahead goal in the 59th minute, as Jacob Hancock set him up perfectly for the shot.

The Knights' offense did not slow down, as Chris Taylor scored a goal on a penalty kick, extending the lead to 3-1.

St. Andrews allowed just one additional shot in the half from the Buffaloes, before Jacob Hancock tacked his second goal on the game, assisted by Bliss Obodumu with 1:20 left on the clock.

Jacob Hancock led the Knights' offense with 3 shots on goal, a pair of goals, and an assist. Jack Jarvis and Chris Taylor each recorded a goal and Bliss Obodumu brought in an assist.

Alessandro Benedetti ended the game between the posts with 5 saves.

St. Andrews will host Truett McConnell on Saturday, Oct. 24th , with a 2:30 start time.
