Mariners place Dylan Moore on concussion IL; recall Jake Fraley from alternate site

As if we needed another reason to hate the Astros:

This is, for lack of a better word, infuriating. After being hit in the head with a pitch for the second time in a week, Dylan Moore’s breakout season is over. He put up a .255/.358/.496 slash line en route to a wRC+ of 139, stole a dozen bases, and once again made an appearance everywhere on the diamond except at pitcher or catcher. He was, bar none, one of the best parts of this shortened 2020, and the names Sam Coonrod and Brandon Bielak (or as the staff has been calling him, Richard Bielak - yeah, once you drill D-Mo in the head you don’t get called the correct name anymore) will live in infamy around these parts. Concussions can be tricky to come back from long-term, which makes this IL trip even scarier, but with the offseason on the horizon, one can reasonably hope that Dylan will be good to go in 2021. We can expect second base to be filled by either Ty France or Dee Strange-Gordon for the last six games of the year, but with France’s limited glove and Dee’s noodle bat, Moore’s production will be tough to replicate. I will miss that Hank Hill booty.

Jake Fraley is up to take the open spot, and should immediately be an upgrade over José Marmolejos’s Mark Trumbo-esque outfield defense. Though his .174/.269/.304 slash line over 26 plate appearances isn’t anything special, he still has Seattle’s hardest-hit ball, a 112 MPH double he scalded on August 22nd. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in one of the corner spots for all six remaining games. While Fraley seems to be on the outside looking in in the eyes of the org and many fans, it would be nice to see his bat get going a little to end the year - maybe get that first homer out of the way, too.
