Can Greg Holland return to form?

0 7

On January 28, 2020 the Royals decided to bring back Greg Holland. I can guess some of you weren’t a big fan of this signing. Me on the other hand, I was definitely in favor of the signing. Despite his age, I still believe Holland could help the Royals bullpen for a year or two. In spring training, Holland was throwing his fastball about 93 mph according to Royals Beat Writer Jeffrey Flanagan. Now, I am not sure how Holland will fit in the Royals bullpen, but with the expanded rosters he will. With Holland only throwing in the mid 90’s, I could see him being an average arm in the pen. That’s all the Royals need at this point. During spring training, Holland struggled quite a bit with a 4.50 ERA. That was only in six innings of work though. On the positive side he struck out eight hitters. Despite an average spring training showing, I still believe he will do better than some of the other players that the Royals kept around too long like Blaine Boyer and Brad Boxberger. With the Royals bringing in pitchers like Greg Holland and Trevor Rosenthal along with the other pitchers in the pen, I think the Royals could have an average bullpen in 2020. This will all depend on how much playing time Holland gets with the Royals having a crowded bullpen and the shortened season.
