0 22

Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes finished a three-game sweep of the Friends University Falcons with wins of 5-0 and then 2-1 today (Mar. 7) in Lindsborg, Kan.

The Swedes got on the board first in the opener on a solo homer by Braden Scrivner with two outs in the first.

A two-run single by Justan Bailey capped a three-run fourth inning and an RBI single by Rancys Nunez in the sixth gave the Swedes their fifth tally.

Josh Macat gave the Swedes a solid pitching performance, throwing seven shutout innings with six strikeouts before Taylor Grider finished the win with a pair of scoreless frames.

Ricky Hockett (JR/Plainville, Kan. ) also struck out six batters while giving up five runs in six innings before Tony Caporrimo (JR/Litchfield Park, Ariz.) blanked the Swedes in the seventh and eighth with one strikeout.

The nightcap was a pitcher's duel, with the Swedes plating their two runs with a single tally in both the first and third innings, while the Falcons clawed within a run on an RBI single by Isiah Perez (JR/Larned, Kan. ) that scored Pryce Anderson (SO/Coffeyville, Kan.).

In the seventh, the Falcons (14-12, 4-4 KCAC) got the tying-run in scoring position with one out, but Jason Nowlin induced an infield pop out and a strikeout to end the game.

Nowlin went seven innings and struck out seven for Bethany (15-10, 6-1 KCAC), with Valenny De Los Santos (JR/Santo Domingo, DR) also turning in a quality outing on the mound for the Falcons with five strikeouts over seven innings.

The Falcons will next entertain No. 3-ranked USAO Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 10) at 3 pm at Westside Athletic Complex.
