Carlos Carrasco sidelined with soreness in right leg, MRI coming soon

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Cleveland Indians Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

This is fine. Everything is fine

In case you were done processing the fact that Mike Clevinger probably won’t be ready for Opening Day, the Indians are here to remind you that things can in fact get worse.

It could be nothing, it could space wizards switching out his right thigh with a slab of McRibs mid-squat, we won’t know until there’s an MRI. The Indians being cagey about the whole thing is, of course, terrifying.

With Mike Clevinger’s injury and Corey Kluber in camp with the Texas Rangers, the Indians are growing mighty thin at pitcher if Carrasco is out for any length of time. There were questions prior to the season if Carrasco would be healthy enough to be a starter following last year’s battle with Leukemia, but he seemed locked into a spot once he came into spring healthy.

If Carrasco is indeed out, it would be up to some combination of Aaron Civale, Zach Plesac, Logan Allen, Scott Moss, Jefry Rodriguez, and maybe even Sam Hentges to pick up extra starts in April.
