0 5

FULLERTON, Calif. – Sporting a 3-run lead after the first half, the SDC looked to steal a win against Hope International in Fullerton on Saturday.

But the Royals were able to quickly erase their deficit and later defeated the Hawks 78-65.

The Hawks started the game off on a 12-4 run and later extended their lead to nine points after Jared Nyivih's jumper with 9:18 remaining. SDC led the entire first half.

HIU scored back-to-back triples to open the second half to gain their first lead of the game. Nyivih knocked down a pair of free throws to give SDC their last lead at 35-34.

Teyden Gause led the Hawks with 15 points. Bryce Parsons added 14 and seven rebounds. Richard Wright also added 14 points with four rebounds and two blocks.

SDC will travel to Menlo and William Jessup next weekend.
