2019 Fantasy Football Do Not Draft List
Drafting the right players is almost as important as just not weighing down your roster with players who cannot help you win. Your fantasy football do not draft list is just as key as the players you are actively targeting. This doesn’t just have to happen through injury either. There are players with enough name cache that if you draft them, you will likely never feel comfortable dropping them or come close to getting draft day value in a trade. I call this the Marques Colston Complex. Colston had four straight seasons as a WR1 in fantasy football from 2009-2012 and was drafted as such the following years. However, his production basically fell off a cliff starting in 2013 despite being drafted as a valuable fantasy asset. You couldn’t trade him or drop him because he was MARQUES COLSTON but every week that you started him, he left a hole in your starting lineup.
I will give the general caveat that everyone has a price. If Derrick Henry is sitting there in the 9th round, sure, I will plug my nose and take him. However, you should likely make it a point to generally avoid players that are not valued properly by the market and do not possess league winning upside. This should be obvious, but every year there are players who are valued at their ceiling drafted too highly who end up sinking fantasy teams by midseason.
