Who is Breyvic Valera?

Answer- probably the next guy getting promoted to the Yankees.

Hey, don’t feel bad if you didn’t know who Valera was, he only became a Yankee yesterday, but thanks to another injury, this time a second one to Miguel Andujar, he very likely will be in the Bronx tomorrow.

It’s come to this, thanks to all the injuries, the Yankees will probably promote a guy who they acquired on Sunday off of waivers from a terrible team. Not to knock Valera too much, but he has spent ten years in the minors with less than 100 AB’s in the bigs for a reason. The Yankees grabbed him because they are simply looking for anyone who can provide some depth and the depth and width of their minor league searches this offseason and season should be commended. The Yankees already have 16 position players who have appeared in more than 10 games this season. That’s five less than they had all last year.

Yet, they are hanging in there and slowly getting some of their biggest players back. Hicks returns tonight, and Stanton sounds like he could be back in the next two weeks. The problem is, someone else will almost certainly get hurt before that. This year it just seems inevitable.
