[Men's Basketball] Butler, Hemphill earn All-AAC First Team honors; other Cavs recognized
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Men's and women's basketball All-Conference awards were announced Wednesday at the annual Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament banquet, and Montreat was well represented.
Junior Austin Butler and senior Jeron Hemphill, both natives of Morganton, N.C., were named to the All-Conference First Team while senior Alonzo Mobley from Lincolnton, N.C. picked up All-Conference Second Team recognition. These honors were voted upon by the coaches.
Darrian Patterson (North Augusta, S.C.) was named to the men's Champions of Character Team.
Montreat has eight of the 29 student-athletes who earned a spot on the men's AAC All-Academic Team, more than any other team in the conference. The Cavs who made the list are redshirt freshman Samuel Brown, sophomore Marcelo Coelho, juniors Daulton Beard, Austin Butler, Jalen Henriquez, and Terrell Sheffey, and seniors David Caldwell and Derrick Cusano.
On the women's side, senior Darah DeWalt of Charlotte, N.C. made the Champions of Character Team.
Three Lady Cavs made the women's AAC All-Academic Team: senior Katie Dillon and Darah DeWalt, and sophomore Caleigh Raby.
