[Outdoor Track & Field] Seven Wildcats Reach Qualifying Marks for NAIA Marathon
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana Wesleyan University track and field qualified seven runners on Saturday for the Marathon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. IWU runners competed at the Q Elite Half Marathon in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
Chris Maxon, Jesse Saxton, and Yvette Rojas all qualified with the NAIA A Standard. Maxon ran a time of 1:11:07, Saxton was right behind at 1:11:31, and Rojas crossed the line in 1:28:14. The half marathon times for Maxon and Rojas are both Indiana Wesleyan program records.
Four more Wildcats reached NAIA B Standards. Josh Brocato and Landon Miller each finished in a time of 1:14:54, Ashlyn Shrimplin finished in 1:31:02, and Annie McBeath completed the course in 1:31:20.
“It was a great performance by everyone,” said assistant track and field coach John Foss. “It was an icy path on a very cold day. I am very proud of their effort.”
The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships are held May 23-25, 2019 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
