The Division Series round ended on a high note for defense, with Red Sox third baseman Eduardo Núñez throwing to a stretching first baseman Steve Pearce in order to retire Gleyber Torres and thwart the Yankees’ desperate comeback attempt.
Yes, there are more strikeouts than ever before, but the importance of defense in the League Championship Series cannot be overstated. Somewhere along the line, someone is going to have to make a big play at a big time in order to win a game — or a championship.
With that in mind, let’s explore the top three things to know about each defense playing in the LCS.
