Game CXXIX: Royals v. Indians

0 3

This might not be pretty

Tonight, the Kansas City Royals will play another baseball game and this time. They will take on the Indians, a professional baseball team based out of Cleveland, Ohio.

In fact, the Indians are currently the first place team in the American League Central. So, congratulations to those guys! Unfortunately, the Royals haven’t faired as well, as they currently sit in last place, 10.5 games back of the fourth place White Sox.

That in and of itself is a pretty wild sentence, as you wouldn't expect any 48-79 team to be 10.5 games ahead of everybody.

In today’s ballgame, the Royals will send Brad Keller to the mound, the only starting pitcher who hasn’t had injury issues, been an unmitigated disaster, or had a mixture of both. He is coming off another strong start, giving up just one run over 5.0 innings in last week’s contest against the White Sox and has given up just two runs over his last 11.0 innings of work.

He will face right-hander Mike Clevinger, who is in the midst of a career season, coming into tonight’s action with a 3.25 ERA and 3.4 fWAR over his 25 starts.

It is also player weekend, which means that players will get to wear cool cleats without being fined. Heartwarming stuff. You should also be ready for a lot of really terrible jerseys and uninspired Royals nicknames. Except for Maverick. Aside from assaulting Raymond and then bragging about it, Brett Phillips has been a very fun addition to the Kansas City Royals ballclub.

Here are the players participating in tonight’s players’ weekend baseball game.
