[Women's Lacrosse] Women's Lacrosse Dismantles Hollins

LAURINBURG, N.C. - The St. Andrews University Women's Lacrosse team continued their winning streak on Tuesday dominating non-conference D-3 Hollins University (Va.) 17-1 for their 5th straight win.

The Lady Knights are now 7-4 on the season (7-1 at home) and within 3 wins of tying the most in the NAIA era.

SAU 17, HOLLINS 1

SAU got off to a great start in this game putting two goals on the board within the first two minutes before running out to a 7-0 lead. Hollins would finally get on the board in the 15th minute of play with their first and only goal. The Knights would then tally 7 more goals for the remainder of the first half to go up 14-1 at halftime. SAU then shut out Hollins 3-0 in the second half to take it 17-1.

SAU managed to hold Hollins to just 1 goal and just 3 total shots for the entire game as the Knights outshot the Green 29-2 in the first half and 35-6 overall as SAU basically just ran the clock out in the second half.

St. Andrews also won 13 of 19 draws led by four from sophomore attacker Tameria Richmond (SO/Lilburn, GA) while winning the ground ball total 17-10. Hollins also committed 29 turnovers with SAU forcing 16 of them. Richmond led the way with five goals on nine shots along with a team-high 4 Caused Turnovers as well.

Senior attacker Taylor Sehm-Crowley (SR/Concord, NC) then scored four goals on 8 shots along with a team-high 4 GBs, two draw wins, and 3 Caused turnovers. Senior midfielder Allie Aycock (SR/Marietta, GA) then led the team with 6 points on the day with her two goals and season-best 4 assists along with a GB, a draw control win and two CTs.

Freshman midfielder Briana Minter (FR/Harrisburg, PA) tallied her season-high total of 3 goals on 7 shots along with three draw wins, one GB, and one CT. Sophomore attacker Victoria Washington (SO/Fredericksburg, VA) also added two goals and an assist with three draw controls, 4 GBs, and 3 CTs on the afternoon while freshman Midfielder Danielle Butterworth (FR/Shallotte, NC) added an assist with two GBs and a CT.

Junior Defender Shaqueena Kemp (JR/Raleigh, NC) then scored her 3rd goal of the season in the second half along with 2 GBs.

Junior goalie Mia Ortiz (JR/Miami, FL) finished the game making just 2 saves on 3 shots on goal as she was not needed to do too much on this day.

St. Andrews improves to 7-4 on the season while Hollins falls to 0-6.

St. Andrews will now go back on the road for the first time in 5 weeks to face conference powerhouses in #7 Tennessee Wesleyan (6-3) on Friday and #2 Cumberlands (Ky.) (9-0) on Saturday at Noon.
