A’s let Brandon Moss go; Moss says he’ll retire if he doesn’t find big-league job
PEORIA, Ariz. - Outfielder-first baseman Brandon Moss, one of the most popular players from the A’s recent playoff teams, was designated for assignment Sunday and, he told The Chronicle, if he does not find a job elsewhere, he will retire from baseball.
Moss, 34, said on The Chronicle’s weekly A’s Plus podcast that if he didn’t make the A’s roster and if he isn’t offered a major-league job elsewhere, he will hang it up rather than accept a minor-league assignment and he reiterated that in a text to The Chronicle on Sunday,
“That’s definitely still the case,” Moss said. “I’ve spent enough of my career in the minor leagues.
