[Women's Soccer] Lemus and Cozzoni Named KCAC Women's Soccer All-Conference
WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2017 Women's Soccer All-Conference award winners as voted on by the conference head coaches. Two Sterling College Lady Warriors were named Second Team All-KCAC selections: Elena Lemus and Olivia Cozzoni. Sterling finished the season with an overall record of 5-11-2 and a KCAC record of 2-7-2.
Forward Elena Lemus started all 18 matches for the Lady Warriors this season. Lemus led Sterling with seven goals and also added one assist during the season. She took led the Warriors taking 32 shots, with 17 of them on goal for the Lady Warriors this season.
Midfielder Olivia Cozzoni started all 18 matches for the Lady Warriors during her senior year. Cozzoni finished the season with five goals and led Sterling with five assists. She led the Lady Warriors with 76 shots, with 35 of them on goal, helping lead the way for Sterling.
Oklahoma Wesleyan University is this year's regular season champion, finishing the season with a perfect 11-0 record.
Ottawa's Caroline Jenkins and Oklahoma Wesleyan's Marjolen Nekesa both earned Most Valuable Player, with Jenkins also earning Offensive Player of the Year. Ottawa's Naysla Munoz earns Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season, Newcomer of the Year was awarded to Brianna Alcorn of Southwestern, with Sydney Vickers of Oklahoma Wesleyan receiving Goalkeeper of the Year. Marjolen Nekesa of Oklahoma Wesleyan was named Freshman of the Year, while Stefan Skillman of York and Vladan Glavonic of Oklahoma Wesleyan were selected Co-Coach of the Year by their peers.
