[Soccer] Soccer Returns Home From Iowa
The Friends University men & women soccer teams traveled to the Oskaloosa, IA campus of William Penn University to compete in games September 6 and 7.
The Falcon women played their first contest Friday night versus host William Penn University and struggled to find the goal resulting in a 3-1 loss. Bella McCorvey provided the offense for Friends University as she scored the goal in the second half.
In the men's contest Friends University competed against William Penn and felt confident victory was going to be achieved as Alberto Ruiz and Andrea Tachongarow scored goals to give the Falcons a 2-1 halftime lead.
William Penn made offensive adjustments at halftime and ultimately handed the Falcons a tough loss 3-2.
Saturday the Falcon women faced Benedictine College. Friends University came out strong and was paced by Emma Cuda who scored to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The second half showed neither team was willing to budge as both programs battled until Benedictine found the net and scored to tie the game with less than two minutes remaining.
Determined to secure the victory Friends University came back with an offensive charge fueled by the tandem of Emma Cuda and Maddie Behny. With few seconds left on the clock Behny scored on a Cuda assist and the Falcons won the contest 2-1.
Following this exciting finish the Friends University men played Midlands University. The Falcons couldn't seem to muster much energy on the hot and humid afternoon. Midland defeated Friends University 3-0.
The Friends University women will now take a 2-2 record into their first home game of the season when they host the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 10 at Adair-Austin stadium. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
The Falcon men will also return home on the 10th to play the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma.
Friends Univesity men's soccer will take a 2-2 record into their 8:30 p.m. contest.
