[Baseball] Evangels Survive Hillsdale, 6-5

4.20.10 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- the Mid-America Christian University baseball team relied on senior Thomas Peabody to come in and strikeout the side in the top of the ninth with bases loaded to get the save and the Evangels a 6-5 victory over Hillsdale College on Tuesday afternoon at Evangel Field.

The Evangels took a 2-0 lead in the second frame with a two-run homer by Adrian Bravo-Carmona, plating James Frederick who led off the inning with a single.

Frederick crossed home plate again in the fourth with an RBI single by Dan Heskin, giving the Evangels a 3-0 advantage.

Kevin Parsons led off the sixth inning with a double to deep right-center field and Joe Moore came in to pinch run. Pete Feurtado followed, reaching base after being hit by a pitch. A RBI single by Frederick allowed Moore to score. Frederick scored on a fielder's choice and Heskin followed with a double to plate Carmona to take a 6-0 lead.

The Crusaders rallied in the seventh, plating four runs off two hits and three MACU errors.

Cody Davis hit a solo shot in the eighth to bring Hillsdale within one run of the Evangels.

The Crusaders loaded the bases in the top of the ninth with no outs. The Evangels brought in Thomas Peabody to close the game. The senior right-handed pitcher came in and struck out the side to earn the save.

Ivan Juvera gets the win on the mound tossing the second inning allowing no hits and no runs with one strikeout. The Evangels sent ten pitchers to the mound on the day.

MACU returns to Sooner Athletic Conference play on Thursday, April 22nd as the host Rogers State University at 3 p.m.
