Topkin has reported this news. Brent will have surgery on Monday. During surgery, the doctor will check on the integrity of the UCL, i.e. the nerve involved with the TJ surgery. They have not only announced that he will not pitch in 2019, but part or all of 2020 could be in doubt, depending on what they find in the surgery. This is terrible news, not only for the Rays, but for Brent himself.
