2016/17 season update
The Bolton Badminton League
- Registration night – 30th August 7:30pm at St. John’s Church, Victoria Road, Horwich.
- The season starts on the 5th September 2016.
- Rule 35 has been changed to allow players to be eligible to play in matches from the day after registration.
Truro and Penwith College - National Badminton Champions 2016

For the second time in three seasons Truro and Penwith College Badminton Team have claimed the National Team Title. The Team which consists of a full compliment of 8 Junior and Senior County Players have travelled far and wide over the last six months competing against top class opposition.

Our 2016 Team travelled to Nottingham University on Wednesday 30th March for our 10th ICT since 2007, this being the 51st year of the competition.

Scores of local badminton players attended the funeral of one of the Bolton Badminton League’s most popular players. Geoff Williams, a member of Markland Hill Racquets Club, died at the age of 67 after a long illness.

The final weekend of Badminton England’s senior county championship season saw the top Cornish players travel to Cheltenham and Gloucester to take on Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Guernsey, and seek to maintain their position in Division 3.

Cornwall’s top badminton players once again made the long trip to Cheltenham for the second weekend of the season, this time to take on table-topping Oxfordshire and the team from Jersey.

The Cornwall County U13 Badminton Squad began their 2015/16 season with a flourish convincingly defeating Avon in a South West County match 22 points to 14 and 12 to 8 in the concurrent Shires League.

53 badminton players from all over Cornwall and North Devon, gathered at the 8 court Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre in Truro at the weekend to take part in Cornwall Badminton Association’s latest Bonanza.

On Saturday 7th November Cornwall’s second team headed for Wellington in Somerset for the first matches of the season. With a mixture of new and experienced players in the team the first match was against a strong Devon 3 side.
Markland Hill Drawn Swiss Mixed Tournament

Markland Hill B.C. will be running a one day Drawn Swiss Mixed Tournament on Sunday 16th August 2015. The tournament will run from 10am until approximately 5pm, beginning with a round robin competition followed by knock out rounds.
