0 7

Playing for one of eight CCAC Tournament bids, the Bees' saw their postseason hopes take a hit with a 3-1 loss at Robert Morris Tuesday night.

The 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21 setback dropped St. Ambrose to 11-20 overall and 6-11 in the conference.

After winning the first set, SAU led the second 23-22 on a Jessica Hemm kill. But the Eagles (11-23, 4-13) won the next three points to even the match.

St. Ambrose also led the third as late as 19-18 after a block from London Williams and Rachel Dion and remained tied at 20-20. Robert Morris answered by taking four of the next five points. A kill from Riley Hummert and an RMU hitting error erased a pair of set points before the Eagles took a 2-1 lead.

With their backs against the wall, a Hummert kill gave the Bees a 16-13 lead in the fourth. But a momentum-swinging 6-1 run turned the set. Kills from Devan Porter got SAU to within a single point at 21-20 and 22-21 but that proved to be the final two points for the Bees.

Porter led all players with 19 kills and 24 digs. Dion (13) and Hummert (11) also reached double figures in kills. Hummert picked up 12 digs in the loss.

Morgan Twing and Amber Tomlin each registered 23 assists. Emma Marshall collected 20 digs.

Allie Brent had five of the team's nine service aces. Grace McGrath added three. Breanne Cunningham paced the Bees with four blocks.

St. Ambrose will close the regular season Thursday at Roosevelt. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
