[St. Andrews] Knights Women's Volleyball Kaylah Sloop Named a Player of the Week

KNIGHTS WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL KAYLAH SLOOP NAMED A PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAURINBURG, NC – St. Andrews University women's volleyball player Kaylah Sloop (FR/Mount Pleasant, NC) was one of three women's volleyball players named a Player of the Week in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) for last week's play.  Sloop, a six foot freshman from Mount Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, was named Attacker of the week.  Also named were Violeta Konculic of Union College as Defender of the Week and Julia Felix of Point University as Setter of the Week.  See the AAC website www.aacsports.com for more information.

During the week of October 15th – 21st, the Knights women's volleyball team defeated Brenau University 3-2, Tennessee Wesleyan University 3-0 and Bryan College 3-1.  In those three games, Sloop posted a .357 hitting percentage, and averaged 5.17 kills per set.  She was recorded with 62 kills and 17 errors in 126 total attacks in the three games.  She posted a high 28 kills against Brenau University and had seven defensive digs and eight blocks on the week as well. 

Knights head coach Holly Mandeville spoke proudly after learning of Sloop being named.  She said, "We are very proud of Kaylah. She has worked really hard all season, and we are glad she is getting recognized for her hard work.  She is only a freshman, and we are so excited about what lies ahead in the future for her."
