A few folk in the water at Dee Why this morning chasing waist-high sets along the beach between the club and the Pole. Conditions before 0900 were glassy thanks to the near calm conditions. The MHL buoy was detecting 1.3 metres of 7-second east wind swell at 0600. Wind will pick up as the day goes along and should be 10-15 kts from the E-NE soon. Tide was high at 0505 and is currently running out to the 0.2 m low at 1155.
Outlook is for slightly more marginal conditions tomorrow for the early and then we look like slumping into a couple of days of near flatness. From Saturday we get slammed with days of stiff onshore winds and solid east swell. According to the latest projection from the NSW Nearshore Wave Tool, the high energy levels will peak next Wednesday-Thursday with a 5 metre (!!) ESE pulse. Unfortunately the current modelling is projecting rainy, onshore conditions through to the end of next week.

Weather Situation
A series of high pressure systems passing to the south of the state extends a ridge along New South Wales coast, maintaining an onshore east to northeasterly airstream. Then, a trough looks set to develop near the south coast later in the week and brushes the entire coast on Friday and through the weekend, bringing fresh to strong southeasterly winds in its wake.
