Hello Friends,
14.3°C Feels like11.0°, said the Bureau for the Northern Beaches at report writing time. Like the rest of Sydney, skies were cloudy and at North Head the wind was 13-23 kts from the south. As anticipated, the swell’s picked up noticeably. As of 0700 the MHL buoy was detecting 2.8 metres of energy from the SSE at 11 seconds. But, as you can see from the pictures, it was mostly missing the point and hitting up the beach where the wind was doing its thing.
The junky conditions appear to be locked in for the rest of the day, but there is a slight possibility that tomorrow morning’s early session could be okay thanks to a brief pre-dawn wind swing to the SSW. By 0900 it could be getting back to the SSE. Swell looks like staying straight south too, but it should be around the same height and period. This morning’s swell model data shows the south energy staying with us right through the weekend and then swinging more to the ESE in the run up to New Years. Could be some fun sessions – particularly mid-week…

Have a great Boxing Day!
Weather Situation
Fresh to strong southerly winds are prevailing as a strong high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge over the coastal waters. Winds are forecast to remain southerly into the weekend, while gradually easing, as the high slowly moves southeast, entering the southern Tasman Sea by the weekend.
