Another very small surf day but not totally flat

0 1

Hello Friends,

A great day to be up and about before it gets too hot and the UV goes nuts. Wind was light and variable early but it’ll be SE by midday. There’s not much energy in the ocean unfortunately. At 0600 the MHL buoy reported 1.2 metres of 8 second NE bump. We’re headed to a 1.79 m high tide at 1100, so between that and the tiny swell, the people chasing ankle to knee high shories at Dee Why weren’t visible in today’s pictures. Which is another way of saying, keep your expectations low in Dee Why’s your destination. It’s likely to be closer to waist high on sets at more dialled in spots.

Kind of a mixed bag for tomorrow through Boxing Day. The Bureau reckons there could be a brief south pulse on Wednesday with NE wind, and then a heftier punch on Christmas as swell ramps and southerly wind does its thing. Friday on some models looks solid but with south wind from the get-go. Oh, and the weather promises to be cloudy too. Here’s hoping for weakening wind and remnant south energy for the weekend.

Go well everyone!

Weather Situation

Winds tending variable for a time during the morning before a southerly change arrives today. Winds will briefly turn northerly before a high pressure system builds in the Bight, directing another, stronger, southerly change over NSW coastal waters.
