Sunny soft surf Monday morning
Hello Friends,
Conditions won’t look the same as these pictures show. They were taken around 0900 and half an hour later the east breeze sprang up. The Bureau says it’ll settle to the NE by this afternoon as it builds to the usual 15-20 kts. Swell at sea was 2 metres at 11 seconds apart from the south to S-SSE. The magnets were picking it up and yet despite the incoming high tide not peaking until 1245, the waves looked fat, slow and difficult to get into. I had to wait for some time to get the snaps, particularly the one above from south Curly where multiple sets came in which no one caught. Anyway, if you get out the door soon and take your soft wave tool, you should get something.
Swell’s due to weaken across the day and be back to pretty small for tomorrow morning (though likely surfable if you’re reasonably keen). The nearshore model shows a little spike back up to around the current settings for Wednesday morning when the wind should be out of the SW and the skies sunny. Thereafter it currently looks as though you’ll wish you’d gone out Wednesday. The long range models currently show a potentially meaty south pulse arriving around Thursday of next week. I’d pencil it in for now on the off chance, but for now it’s a watching brief.
Go well!
Weather Situation
Southerly winds across NSW coast today from an offshore trough near the south coast, turning north to northwesterly during the day except for Byron coastline where a trough could linger. A new cold front is forecast to move up the coast as a strong southerly change during Tuesday before being replaced by the next high pressure system during Wednesday gradually turning the winds north to northwesterly again. North to northwesterly winds freshen during Thursday as the next trough and cold front approach from inland NSW.
