Cold and sunny but rain coming
Hello Friends,
There’s a 95% chance of showers later, but this morning started very cold with 10-15 kt of westerly wind. The buoy offshore from Port Botany was seeing 2.5 metres of 8-9 second straight south swell. As you can see from the pictures, that was translating to waist to maybe occasionally shoulder high sets along the beach at Dee Why, but as usual, under these circumstances, the point was smaller and marginal. It was only 9 C as of 0830, so with the wind, it’s going to feel a lot colder. Water on the other hand is a comparatively balmy 19C according to Beachwatch.
Swell prospects seem to have been dialled back a little in this morning’s run of the models. Both the GFS and ECMWF models predict that the expected east pulse will start filling in on Thursday and peak in the 2 metre range by Friday when they also show wind having gone around to the NE as weather stays chilly and showery. Currently Saturday doesn’t look too bad with clearing weather, east swell and SW wind…
Have a great Monday!
