Maybe possibly at the right spot

0 2

Hello Friends,

Swell was fading yesterday and it didn’t stop fading overnight. Out at sea as of 0630 it was 1.5 metres from the south at 8 seconds apart. Wind was out of the west at 6-7 kts. Surf was chest high on the bigger ones, but you were doing a lot of waiting for them.
Outlook for tomorrow and Monday is likely rideable but down another notch from this morning. Wind looks like being lightly offshore for the early sessions through to Monday.

But then…

It looks like we could get a proper East Coast Low forming off the north coast around Tuesday. As the Goat reminds us, these are erratic systems, but as of this morning the models are showing it dropping down the coast and by Wednesday it could be slinging pouring rain, howling wind and 4-6 metre swell at us.

If this plays out as currently anticipated, Weds and likely Thursday will be too big and crazy for surfing along the exposed coast. Though, as I said on my radio spot this morning, if the bottom of the low isn’t too far south of Sydney, we could see the main energy coming at us from the east, and that could light up inner harbour spots like Nielsen Park.

Have yourself a top old day everyone and surf picture people, I’m just about there with the galleries…

Weather Situation

A high pressure ridge lies over NSW coastal waters today and will remain through the weekend. A trough is expected to begin developing off the north coast during during Monday before deepening into a coastal low pressure system later Monday or Tuesday. This low is forecast to move away to the east during Wednesday or Thursday.
