Grey and messy morning
Hello Friends,
There were waves to be had this morning at Dee Why but, as you can see, the 8-12 kt ESE wind was making a mess of the tide-affected 1.6 metre, 11-sec east swell. There were chest-plus wave faces to be found, so it wasn’t totally hopeless. But, gee, you had to be keen. The SE wind will be 20-25 kt later and the swell will build to around 2.5 metres. It should be bigger again to tomorrow but the south wind won’t relent.
Not surprisingly with all the rain, Beachwatch is warning that pollution is possible. And the Bureau tells us the showery stuff will continue through to at least Friday.
The Bureau tells us the wind will be a little more helpful on Tuesday (ie SW) and we should still have swell energy levels similar to today. If the models are correct, Wednesday to Friday will see the swell pulse again from the south as the rain tumbles down. At least the wind call is for SW across the period.
Have yourself a top old Sunday, and if you haven’t already, get out and do your civic duty at a pre-polling place near you.
Weather Situation
A trough lies along the New South Wales coast and will deepen through today to form a low pressure system near the Mid North Coast or Hunter coast this afternoon. This system is likely to generate vigorous southerly winds and large waves as it develops. The low is forecast to move away to the east on Monday and another trough may brush the southern waters on Tuesday, maintaining a southerly flow along the New South Wales coast.
