Scrappy but surfable if you were keen
Hello Friends,
Around midday I finally got a chance to see the beach. The swell out at sea was 2.7 metres at 8 seconds from the SE and the wind was southerly at 14-21 kts. It was about mid-tide and the weather was more cloudy than not, but with sunny breaks. There were a few bods at the point waiting for the odd shoulder to maybe head high wave faced set to turn up. Over in the beachy where the wind was making more of a mess of the surface conditions a number of stalwarts were doing what they could.
We have showery weather for another couple of days yet, but from tomorrow the wind should swing SW for the early before settling to the S-SE, while the swell should still be similar to today. Thursday’s supposed to be southerly again and swell SE in the 1-2 metre range. So nothing amazing, but if you’re stoked enough there should be reasons to get in.
Friday’s still looking like seeing a significant pulse into the 4+ metre range along with light offshores and sunny skies… not for beginners, nor probably confident intermediates, but experienced riders… could be quite the day.
Go well!
Weather Situation
A fresh to strong southerly change is extending to the northern half of the coast today, as a low pressure trough moves across the region. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds will then be maintained along the coast through to start of the long weekend as a deep low pressure system moves south over the Tasman Sea, combining with a ridge extending along the coast from a high over the southern Tasman Sea.
