Little lines of hope

0 8

Hello Friends,

It’s not amazing, but there are waves at SE spots this morning thanks to a metre of 16-second energy coming from 154°. Of course the very long period  chest-high sets only turn up now and again, so it’s not exactly consistent. But the wind was offshore from first light and the forecast tells us it’ll go around to the east-NE but only get to around 10 kts. Weather call is for partly cloudy and water is still a crazy warm 24.

The outlook is for the long period swell to gradually fade over the next couple of days while the swell holds at around 0.75 m range through Friday night. Saturday currently looks like seeing a noticeable bump in the wave heights (shoulder to head high maybe) as the swell swings east. The weather will be rainy on Friday and very rainy Saturday and the wind will be steadily onshore from the eastern quarters.  The more hopeful modelling has the wind going back to offshore, the weather to partly cloudy and the swell at around 2 metres at 8-ish seconds from the east. And beyond that, things are looking interesting in a good way. We could see a run off offshore days with 2+ metre, 10-second period ESE swell through to mid-week… no harm in dreaming!

Have yourself a top old Wednesday everyone!

Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure is expected to persist over the coast, directing east to northeasterly flow for much of the week. A weak trough is forecast to bring a brief southerly change on Wednesday to the south coast. Then, winds will turn fresh north to northeasterly later in the week as a trough extends to central parts of the coast, possibly deepening to a low pressure system off the coast on Saturday. Fresh southerly winds are forecast to develop along the coast later weekend in the wake of the low.
