Glassy little waves this morning
Hello Friends,
There was just the faintest NE breeze blowing before 0700 this morning. Skies were grey, but not raining and there were a few knee to waist-high waves from the metre-high mix of 5-6 sec east wind swell and 12-sec SSE swell. First tide of the daylight hours is the low at 1110. The tidal swing is only 0.4 m, so what you see in that respect is what you’ll get all day. The light early wind will give way later to a summer-standard 15-20 kt NE’r. As usual, the best conditions will be before 1000.
The swell models haven’t budged and are still predicting a 5-6 days of small to tiny and weak surf for Sydney. That said, if you’re keen there should be at least a little something for a grovel particularly from about mid-next week.
Weather Situation
A trough near the Hunter and Macquarie Coasts is weakening as a high pressure system entering the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the coast. During the weekend, winds will become fresh north to northeasterly as the high slowly drifts across the Tasman Sea ahead of the next trough that will enter the far south coast late Sunday. The trough will cross the southern half of the coast on Mon, with a southerly wind change in its wake, before stalling about the central parts of the coast on Tuesday and weakening through the midweek.
