Yep, still tiny but a nice day anyway
Hello Friends,
We’re looking at another sunny and warm day along the beaches with only the tiniest of waves on offer. Again, I’d call them knee high with the odd bigger one. The MHL buoy was showing 1.2 metres of 7-sec easterly wind swell, so there should at least be a little something along most stretches. The NE’r was already texturing Dee Why by 0800. It’ll pick up through the day and by this afternoon will be a standard summer issue 15-20 kts.
Tomorrow should start out with northerly wind for the early and swell energy at about the current level and direction. In the afternoon it the swell may come up a bit as some south wind bump arrives with a S-SE change. Then Thursday we’re likely to wake to south wind and a gradually fading, short-period mix of south and NE local wind swell. My guess is that the early might offer a brief window of opportunity for something at least surfable at optimally aligned locations…
There could be more wave energy around this weekend but the models show that as it arrives from the ESE, there’ll be southerly wind too. My fingers are crossed for next Tuesday morning at this stage when at least one interpretation of the data is hopefully suggesting fun size swell and offshores for the early… but don’t hold me to it!
Go well!
Weather Situation
A weakening high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge along the coast, maintaining northeasterly airstream. Little change to this pattern is expected over the next several days apart from a series of coastal southerly wind changes brushing the southern and central parts of the coast mid to late this week.
