Hello Friends,

Hope you got in yesterday because this morning is looking suitable only for the desperately keen. The wind has been blowing out of the SSE since late yesterday evening, so as the pictures confirm, surface conditions are choppy. Swell at 0600 was dead south at 2 metres and 10 seconds apart. Tide was low at 0800 and the weather call is for a cloudy day with a high of 27.

There’s not much hope for an improvement today but tomorrow morning could possibly see some fun ones as the SE swell perks and mixes with some NE component while winds (hopefully) stay light and from the north for at least an hour or two after sunrise.

Christmas Eve may also be worthy for the morning session with south swell predicted to pulse into the 2-4 metre range – but with wind being favourable only briefly around sunrise (it’s set to go south by around 0800).

Christmas and Boxing Day are looking very interesting on the models with a solid south swell (2+ metres at around 11 seconds) sunny skies and light offshore breezes through to mid-morning…

Go well!

Weather Situation

A high pressure ridge extends across the coast, bringing generally settled weather. A cold front is forecast to cross the southern coastal waters late today bringing another southerly change, and progressing northward along the remainder of the coast during Monday. After this another ridge is expected to build in the wake of the front, bringing settled conditions for Christmas.
