The Goat’s Surf Forecast

0 41

Surf forecast issued Thursday 24 October 2024: Seven day outlook for Sydney

TG has constantly striven – if that’s a word – over the years, to bring you objective measures of wave/ surf conditions, to help you judge if a surf is worth your while or not.

First there was the daily Crowd Estimate Figure (CEF), then the Car Patk Index (CPI, if you will), to supplement the more subjective, less precice assessments and descriptors like NGB, Messy, Yahoo, and so on.

Always the Innovator, today TG gives you The SKI –  The School Kids Index.

Now as we all know,  schoolkids will go in  literally _anything_ after school. So the SKI has to be used with care. But the SKI can be useful in certain scenarios, especially at the extremes of measurement.

Putting everything together should give you a pretty good picture – even better than you can get on a surfcam

So today (Thursday):  Waves are 2.19 metres, at 8.17 seconds from SE/ E (courtesy MHL)…. or TG’s  1-2 metre range..

… Buutt…

CEF is Zero,

CPI is Zero (tyrekickers, whalewatchers, nappers etc are trimmed from the figures)…

And the SKI is Zero.

If that doesn’t give you an idea of just how bad it is, then try the descriptors Messy, Choppy, Onshore, NBG, and AOTP (All Over the Place).

The Surf Outlook for tomorrow is something similar. With lots of changable windy wind forecast by the Bureau, the outlook for the weekend and week ahead is not looking all that great.. Variable conditions mean grab it when you can >> Check the BoM’s wind expectations each day>>

Friday: somewhere in the 1-2 metre range South East/East

Saturday: starting to come up into the 2 – 2+ metre range at places open to dead South

Sunday: easing back to around 1-1+ metres South East

Monday: ditto

Tuesday: starting to come up again, around 2 – 2+ metres at dead South spots

Wednesday: ditto South East

Thursday: easing back into the 1-2 metre range South East

Have Fun, Stay safe.
