Funky junky but rideable

0 2

Hello Friends,

As of 1030 the wind was coming from lightly from the E-SSE and swell out at sea was S by SSE with heights at sea around the 2-metre mark and an average period of 10 seconds. As the pictures show the consequence at Dee Why was somewhat choppy and bumpy surface conditions with shoulder to head high faces on sets. It was reasonably consistent, but the waves weren’t looking exceptionally powerful (which is to be expected given the direction and period). For some reason the peak just north of the club was on the busy end of the crowd scale. Good to see that stoke level given the then-gloomy weather and choppy surface conditions.

From what the Bureau says and the swell models predict, the current swell intensity should continue into Tuesday morning. The problem is that the wind call is for strong-ish NE from the get-go. North corners with good south exposure will be the plan. With any luck the energy levels will still be reasonable on Wednesday morning when the wind will more north according to the Bureau. From Thursday it seems we could be into another extended period of puny to unsurfably tiny surf conditions…

Anyway, have yourself a top old Monday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high southwest of Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. The ridge will move out to the Tasman Sea today, bringing a gradual shift to northerly winds later today and Tuesday. Winds will freshen ahead of an approaching cold front, which is expected to bring a westerly change to southern and central waters during Wednesday as a trough lingers over the northern coast.
