A cold front will bring strong to gale-force southwesterly winds and hazardous surf conditions to the New South Wales coast during today. After this, a fresh southerly airstream is forecast to persist, and then strengthen on the weekend, as a complex low pressure system forms over the Tasman Sea.

- Westerly 20 to 30 knots turning southwesterly 25 to 30 knots in the middle of the day. Winds reaching up to 40 knots during the afternoon and evening.

- 1.5 to 2.5 metres, increasing to 2.5 to 4 metres around midday.
- Swell
- Southerly below 1 metre, tending southwesterly 1 to 1.5 metres around midday, then tending southerly 3 to 5 metres during the afternoon.
